13 Reasons Why

Based on the novel Jay Asher’s 2007 series Thirteen Reasons Why, the American teen drama television series 13 Reasons Why was created by Brian Yorkey for Netflix. Clay Jensen, a high school student, played by Dylan Minnette, is central to the narrative, as is the fallout from Hannah Baker’s death, another high school student (Katherine Langford). She records a series of cassette tapes before taking her own life, detailing her motivations for doing so and the others she holds accountable. The program examines and portrays various social concerns affecting contemporary adolescents through its numerous narratives. Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette, and his pals were followed in season four of 13 Reasons Why as they prepared to graduate from Liberty High. The secret they had kept hidden namely, the identity of the real murderer of Bryce Walker made the impending changes in their lives all the more uncomfortable.

Why Did Hannah Baker Kill Herself?

American author Jay Asher invented the fictional Hannah Baker. She is the main lead subject of his 2007 young adult mystery novel Thirteen Reasons Why, which became known as 13 Reasons Why thanks to Netflix. Hannah is first seen as a sophomore at the made-up Liberty High School, where she struggles to adapt to living in a hostile school environment and suffers sexual harassment, abuse, and assault. In the end, she commits suicide.

What Are The 13 Reasons Why Hannah Baker Killed Herself?

Reason 1: Justin Foley

Clay and the viewers of 13 Reasons Why season 1, episode 1, “Tape 1, Side A,” learn about Hannah’s first kiss. Hannah is a newcomer to the area, so her buddy Kat organizes a party in her honor so she may meet people. Justin Foley is regrettably one of the persons she encounters (Brandon Flynn). Having a liking for him immediately, Hannah ultimately consents to date once they get along. Justin takes a picture of her coming down the slide as they are in a park after dark. They then kiss each other. However, Justin gives in to social pressure the following day and circulates the picture he took, which partially reveals Hannah’s skirt. Justin also suggests that there had been more sexual encounters than just a kiss.

Reason 2: Jessica Davis

13 Arguments Jessica was the subject of “Tape 1, Side B,” episode 2 of season 1. (Alisha Boe). Hannah and Jessica were newcomers to the area and hit it off immediately. The “FML Club” was soon formed when the duo met Alex (Miles Heizer) and quickly expanded to a trio. Unfortunately, when Alex and Jessica start dating, things go south. They begin to ignore and distance themselves from Hannah as a pair, leaving her alone. Things got even worse when they split up since Jessica falsely blamed Hannah and continued to despise her bitterly. Jessica hits Alex and calls her a slut because she thinks she must have cheated on Hannah. Hannah claims that the experience crushed her heart.

Reason 3: Alex Standall

13 Arguments Alex Standall was the focus of “Tape 2, Side A,” the third episode of season 1. Hannah discloses that Alex had contributed to “The Hot List,” a website. The infringing document was created by the jocks and spread around the school. Alex includes the sections “Best and Worst Ass” to establish a connection with the famous elite. He lists Hannah under the first and Jessica under the second. Alex did it despite Jessica not having sex with him rather than out of sincere opinion. The deed fueled Jessica’s hostility toward Hannah and worsened the reputation Justin’s deception had already damaged.

Reason 4: Tyler Down

Hannah Baker had been the victim of stalking in episode four of season one of 13 Reasons Why, “Tape 2, Side B.” She reveals that Tyler Down was the offender (Devin Druid). After Hannah treated the awkward photographer nicely, he started to have feelings for her. But because he can’t healthily express his emotions, he turns to stalking her and snapping pictures of her without her consent. One of the pictures he took showed her and Courtney (Michele Selene Ang) sharing an intoxicated kiss after playing a game of Truth or Dare. Tyler approaches Hannah and invites her out, but she vehemently declines. Tyler circulates the image throughout the school in a fit of petty wrath.

Reason 5: Courtney Cimsen

13 Arguments “Tape 3, Side A,” the fifth episode of season 1, focused on the immediate consequences of Tyler revealing the image. Because she had been adopted and raised by a gay couple, Courtney was worried about the misconceptions that her lesbianism could arouse. As a result, Courtney retreated from Hannah to avoid anyone connecting them or the image. Unfortunately, Timothy Granaderos, as Monty de la Cruz, figured out the truth. When questioned, Courtney spins a web of lies that fueled the gossip about Hannah that was already circulating. She claims that Hannah and another girl were involved, that Hannah likes threesomes, and that all of the information concerning her and Justin was accurate.

Reason 6: Marcus Cole

Marcus Cole is the focus of 13 Reasons Why season 1, episode 6, “Tape 3, Side B.” (Steven Silver). Marcus, who on the surface seems to be a perfect student, is revealed by Hannah to have assisted in her harassment. At first glance, Marcus seems like a decent person, so he sets up Valentine’s Day date with Hannah. He arrives, however, after hours and with a group of jocks. They observe from a different table as Marcus adopts a more sleazy demeanour. He circles back to her side of the table and continues to touch her improperly. Furthermore, when she finally rejects him, he reacts aggressively. Marcus intentionally damages Hannah’s reputation since she disproves his theory that she is an easy target. He is enraged that she did this.

Reason 7: Zach Dempsey

13 Arguments Zach Dempsey was the focus of “Tape 4, Side A,” the seventh episode of season 1. (Ross Butler). Zach was one of the athletes present for Marcus and Hannah’s catastrophic date. But unlike the others, he tries to comfort her by reaching out. The two get along because Hannah likes the sentiment. Unfortunately, when Zach shows romantic interest, things go wrong. Hannah is humiliated and irritated by yet another advancement because she is still hurt by everything that has happened with the others. After receiving a public reprimand, Zach responded by snatching Clay’s positive notes secretly written for Hannah in English class. Amid her deepening sadness, Hannah referred to those notes as a “lifeline,” and the theft was a new and ruthless violation.

Reason 8: Ryan Shaver

Hannah tried to express her anguish via poetry in the first episode of season one of 13 Reasons Why, “Tape 4, Side B.” After joining a club, she befriends Ryan Shaver (Tommy Dorfman), the former editor of the school newspaper. He supports her outlet for creativity and gives her the courage to read them out in front of the group. But when Hannah doesn’t let him publish one of her works, Ryan goes too far. He grabs the poetry from her and publishes it regardless of her decision, refusing to respect it. The poem is read aloud in class, adding to Hannah’s humiliation and breach of trust. Hannah notices indications that Marcus and Courtney, among others, identify the message even though it was claimed as anonymous.

Reason 9: Justin Foley Revisited

In 13 Reasons Why series season 1, episode 9, “Tape 5, Side A,” the situation worsened. Hannah lists Justin Foley as one of her reasons once more. Hannah describes what happened at the party on the recording. Hannah had been hiding in a closet when a couple walked in; she had been in a room alone and was about to leave. It is made clear who that couple is: Justin and Jessica. After setting her down, Justin walked away, only to be greeted by Bryce, who insisted he was let in. Bryce rapes an essentially comatose Jessica after Justin gives his consent. Hannah accuses Justin of allowing Bryce entry in the first place, even though Justin eventually makes an unsuccessful attempt to stop him.

Reason 10: Sheri Holland

Sheri Holland is identified as the subject of the 13 Reasons Why season 1 episode 10, “Tape 5, Side B.” (Ajiona Alexus). Sheri grants Hannah a ride home after witnessing the horrible sexual assault of Jessica. But as a disoriented Sheri tear down a stop sign, further horror follows. Hannah is determined that they should call someone or take action, but Sheri gives in to her dread of running afoul of the law. She drives away. As a result, leaving Hannah stranded. While Hannah was looking for a phone to report the incident, it was discovered that the destroyed sign had caused an automobile accident.

Reason 11: Clay Jenson

During the 13 Reasons Why series, season 1, episode 11, “Tape 6, Side A,” Clay Jensen finally gets an answer he has been seeking all season. In this episode, it is clear that Clay was the reason Hannah spent the party in Jessica’s room. They had become closer at the gathering and headed to the bedroom to escape everyone. Despite their initial attempts to advance their relationship, Hannah finally breaks down due to the pain she has been through this season. She screams for Clay to leave in her distress. Clay, who is confused and terrified, complies with her request and, as a result, will live with remorse forever.

Reason 12: Bryce Walker

The evil Bryce Walker was the focus of 13 Reasons Why season 1, episode 12, “Tape 6, Side B,” even though the tapes didn’t get to him until later seasons. Hannah, who had lost the store’s revenues, was left feeling hopeless and unhappy as she walked the streets. Hannah wandered into a party after hearing noise from a nearby home. Hannah was finally left with Bryce after initially going into a hot tub with her ex-friend Jessica and others. The scary jock stopped Hannah from leaving as she tried to. Hannah described how Bryce Walker raped her after raping Jessica and numerous other female classmates.

Reason 13: Mr. Porter

In the 13 Reasons Why season 1 episode 13, “Tape 7, Side A,” Mr. Kevin Porter, the last name on Hannah’s list, was made known. Mr. Porter, portrayed by Derek Luke, worked as the school counsellor at Liberty High. Hannah wanted to try at least to ask for assistance one last time, even though she was already sure she would commit herself. To accomplish this, she went to Porter’s workplace. Unfortunately, he delivers a string of contemptuous counsel in addition to being continually sidetracked by his phone. Even when Hannah brings up her sexual assault, Mr. Porter only offers the possibility that the best course of action could be to forget about it and move on.
