Urwa was a shy girl in her childhood. She used to stay alone, even at the parties.
One of her friends encouraged her to the audition for a play that was at that time, being staged in Islamabad. She was in 9th grade at that time and it was her first interaction with acting. Though she failed to get a role in the act, her potential reserved her a place in the backstage crew.
While in 7th standard, she changed her surname from Hussain to Hocane, because she wanted it to be unique as her first name.
At the age of 17, she won a talent competition called VJ Hunt and was asked to move to Karachi to participate in a show. She signed the contract on her mother’s Identity Card, as she wasn’t 18, and didn’t hold any ID at the time.
Water, a great deal of water, is what, she credits for her fitness and beauty.
She loves the way Mr. Bachchan speaks Hindi in “Kaun Banega Crorepati”. She says it’s unfortunate that no one speaks in Urdu like that anymore.
